Dallas Hash
- Date: Sat, March 15th
- Time: 12:00 PM CDT
- Hash Cash for Parade: $5.00
- Hash Cash for the Hash: $5.00
- Hare: I Came, I Saw, I Ran
- Start: Meadows Building
THE DRINKING STARTS EARLY!!!
Spread the word to those non-emailing hashers so they won't miss it! Since cars will be nearby most of the day, bring clothes, etc. for the whole day. Bring chairs, cameras, hash cash, liver, green stuff (mucus counts, as does food from Big Gulp's pantry).
Warning - per our resident "ear to the ground" Shagpipe, cops will be more plentiful this year, so use your judgment, and also help Goldilocks to not get run over by a Clydesdale or a float. Beermeister Clod promised PLENTY of beer for us! PARK (free) at the Mockingbird Station and take the RED line Dart train (or walk) to Lovers Station - to the Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade! Parking will be scarce at Lovers at parade time unless you got there way early). Cars will be near the on-in. If you want to check out Garland, Texas instead, take the blue train and tell us how it went. Mockingbird Station is one block east of Central Expy. on Mockingbird. Ln. Mockingbird Station
PARADE:
Around 10:00AM - we'll be there a lot earlier than that with the keg tapped. Parade starts at 11:00. Bring some breakfast food and your vessels, or get there extra early & walk over to a breakfast joint or Krispy Kreme nearby. Bloody Marys (vodka) & Mimosas (champagne) are good breakfast drinks, too. We'll NEED a few trucks to hold parking places in the lot EARLY like last year, and so respond if you can PLEASE - if you have a car, then that'd help too!!! We'll be around the Lovers Ln/Greenville Ave. corner. Watch and yell for us. Personalized party favors while they last. Check the hotline too, we'll be updating it. Don't miss the official equines of hashers: The Budweiser Clydesdales. Several hashers are known to be in the parade this year too. Bring your cameras. Hasher pooper scooper clowns are one of the last participants, I understand. 11:00AM - Parade Start - beer keg already tapped (bring hash cash) - good to have breakfast tacos, shot booze, mimosas, bloody marys, etc. watch parade from hash truck(s). Get there early for the partying and good seats! Bring cameras!
5K DASH DOWN GREENVILLE:
Before the parade, across the street there's the Two Rows Brewery St. Paddy's Day Dash Down Greenville (5K). Registration starts at 7:00; Run starts at 8:30; music & beer post-run party in Two Rows parking lot after the run till the parade starts. This is a great party. Take cash with you to the 5K for beer money afterwards. Hey, you can show up at 6AM, park your truck (or car) with us, walk across the street, register for the 5K, hang out with us hashers till r*ce-time, drink after the 5K, and walk across the street where more hashers are waiting for you with more beer. 5K Fun Run link: http://www.dashdowngreenville.com/
HASH:
The Hash will start about 12:30 - after the Parade - from near Greenville and Lovers (just look for us). A drunk hash to be sure. The hares are Fruity Pebbles and I-I-I. Plan on a couple of shot checks and surprises along the way to the.....
FOOD / CIRCLE UP:
It'll be a pretty popular area - we'll be in the middle of everything happening. A couple of grills will be fired up for food & more beer - for the CIRCLE UP. Liquor store & Kroger nearby. Bring chairs, cameras, etc. plan on hanging out & yelling.
BLOCK PARTIES:
We'll be within walking distance to both of the massive block parties that day. One big one's up on Yale, and there's the classic Lower Greenville Ave block party down at Stan's Blue Note, Hurricane Grill, Blue Goose, and the Dubliner. It's like Dallas' answer to Mardi Gras. There's a SHUTTLE running from the cars (Mockingbird Station) to & from the Stan's block party, so you can take it either or both ways. Followed by Lower Greenville Ave. Block Party till 5:30. Take free shuttle back to cars at Mockingbird Station. Puke more on Bubble's car. Leave someone else's business card on his windshield. Drive away (upon reaching sobriety). Here's info from last year about the Lower Greenville's Block Party 9:00 AM - street closed (as compared to 10:00AM last year). 5:30 PM - beer sales halted on street 5:50 PM - police on horseback forcibly clear patrons from the street (arresting those who don't comply - a large paddy wagon is nearby). No one under 21 allowed. Very large crowd expected.
AFTER THE BLOCK PARTY - THE TIPP
for those strong souls. grab your Baby Wipes and hose yourself down - to go out again - Hashers are usually at THE TIPPERARY INN after the block party - about a mile away - for Irish revelry. About 8:00 or so. Skillman St. south to the corner of Live Oak St.. 5815 Live Oak St. 214-821-6500. The Pour House, Lakewood Landing, and Cosmo's are all within a block of the Tipp. The Tipp weblink: http://www.tippinn.com/ Also - there's lots going on that day & night, so be prepared to party all day. There are three three free shuttles running constantly between the lower Greenville block party and Mockingbird Station. No charge for parking at Mockingbird Station. Good Tips & Overview of the day from a non-hash group:
From Downtown Dallas, take US 75 north. Exit Mockingbird and turn right on Mockingbird. Turn left into the Dart Mockingbird Station parking lot. Park. Buy Ticket. Board NORTHBOUND RED train. Get off at next station.
Better yet... walk a few blocks north to the Meadows Building.
